＜Denise's Lessons＞
2/17 (Fri)
I woke up at six thirty, and checked my schedule with my host mother Kim. She wrote on a sheet of paper what I was going to do and where I wanted to go. I got very excited. And then, we went to the study center. We brought lunch and went to a big store, had lunch and enjoyed shopping. After class, I went to Ayaka's house with Runa. Ayaka's mother showed us to cook some "American food." We saw her cook our dinner for "Welcome Party"

Before the Welcome Party started, I was staying with Ayaka, Runa and Ayaka's mother. And then, we went back to the study center together for the party. Host families brought a lot of food to the party, and all the dishes were very delicious!

2/20 (Mon)
We went to a fire station.
We had a lot of
questions for fire fighters. We also wore fire fighting suits. And then,
we came back to the study center and studied a little. After I came home,
I went shopping with Kim and Dave.
I ate "rice cake"
for dinner. The rice was a
little dry.

2/21 (Tue)
We studied and played some games at the study center until 11:30,
and then we went to a big shopping mall
by car. First, I had a hamburger for lunch, and we enjoyed shopping and bought many clothes for
a short time. For example, we went to
Forever 21 and
H&M.
After I came home, I went to Seattle! It was sunny
that day, so I was very happy. I bought many souvenirs. I enjoyed
shopping in Seattle!

2/22 (Wed)
It was my birthday
that day, so I ate cake in the morning. My
host family
celebrated my birthday and gave me many presents before leaving home for class.
I was very happy that morning.
We went to "a snowy mountain"
for class. It took about 2 and a half hours to go
there.
There were many cute buildings there, so I took many pictures.
First, we went to a restaurant and ate lunch there. And later, I watched many stores
with my friends.

2/23 (Thu)
We went to the city hall.
They had a small court
in the same building, and we had a
chance to see it. The police dog
we saw was very smart and cute. And then, we came back to the study
center, and ate lunch and studied for a short time.
I was very sleepy that day, so I slept soon after I came home.
I ate grilled fish for dinner, and it was very delicious.

2/24 (Fri)
We went to Green River Community College in the morning. We first heard about the system of the college. We then looked around the college for about an hour. In addition, we ate lunch at the school cafeteria. After that, we went to a nursing home. The building was very cute. And we sang some songs for the senior people, and we talked about with them for a while.

2/27 (Mon)
We went to
an elementary school, and made
some presentations. My group had the presentation twice. For the
first
class, we made a few mistakes. For the second class, we made the
presentation successful. I was very happy. And then, we talked with
the children.
They talked to me too fast, so I had a lot of trouble to understand them.
After class, I went to
a book store with Kim. I bought many books.
2/28 (Tue)
We experienced American holiday activities. We made our own Easter eggs. And then, we got dressed up! We enjoyed it very much. We also ate many delicious dishes for lunch. My host mother made jelly for us. We also had apple pie, potato salad, ham and cake. They were all very delicious.

2/29 (Fri)
I was looking forward to this day! I had wanted to go to Seattle with my friends. We went to Space Needle, Pike Place Market and Starbucks. It was rainy that day, so we gave up going up Space Needle. I spent a lot of money at the Starbucks. I was excited this time.

3/5 (Mon)
We prepared for our
Sayonara Party
during the day. We also went to the last-minute shopping
at Target. We had a special
guest dog that day : a guide under training. Aya's
host mother brought her dogs to class and we learned about guide dogs
in America.
Sayonara Party started in the evening. I got nervous a
little, but everything went well.
