teacher guide

 Laura is our teacher guide. She was always funny and cheerful. She always told us jokes, and made us laugh . We learned a lot of things about America from her. For example, American culture, American holidays, American food, and so on.




Feb. 16, 2015 (Mon.)

 Lin drove me to the study center. We studied about 3 hours in the morning. After that, we went to the shopping mall near the study center.  When I got home, I asked Lin about how to use the washing machine and the dryer. They were bigger than Japanese ones. After that, I asked about a fire-alarm box too. I listened to Lin's explanation with Morgan and Logan.
 We ate pizza for dinner while watching a movie. At night, Lin taught me about how to dump garbage and the landfill area. Lin drew some pictures and showed them to me to help her explanation.


Feb. 17, 2015 (Tue.)

 We went to the Tacoma Mall after we studied in the morning. We all bought a stuffed teddy bear at Build A Bear . After I got home, I made dinner with Lin. We made turkey noodles and jambalaya . Lin explained it to me simply.
 In the evening, we went to the Welcome Party . All the host families brought some dishes to the study center. We talked with each family and played games. I really enjoyed the party. At the end of the Welcome Party, we gave some souvenirs to Laura. She looked happy, so I was happy too.

Feb. 18, 2015 (Wed.)

 We were going to a  German village, so I got up early. It took about two hours to reach the village. The German village has snow every year, but it didn't this year. I met Catriona . She is a cute girl. At lunch time, we ate German food.  I loved sausages because they were so delicious! After lunch, we had some free time. We ate gelato and bought some souvenirs for our family and friends. 
 After dinner, I watched the TV anime "Doraemon" with Logan.  I was surprised because the American Doraemon had gargle voice. I was reminded of Japan. Morgan was sick that day, so the house was very quiet.

Feb. 19, 2015 (Thu.)

 We went to the city hall in Federal Way . A woman guided us around the city hall. However, she spoke so fast that I couldn't catch her very much. After that, a femall police staff guided us around the  police department. The police staff spoke fast too, so I couldn't really understand what she said. The police department was bigger than that in Japan.
 After I got home, I made dinner with Lin. We cooked QUIONA . It was like Japanese rice, but QUIONA was smaller. After dinner, I played with Logan. We threw some balls at each other. I enjoyed it. 
 Lin, Morgan, Logan and I made some postcards with many stamps at night. Lin had many kinds of stamps, so I was surprised. I made about five postcards, and sent them to my family in Japan. Lin, Morgan and Logan made some postcards very well.

Feb. 20, 2015 (Fri.)

 In Laura's class, she told us the story of Ginger Boy, and we told her the story ofPeach Boy from a Japanese folktale in return. After class, we went to Green River Community College and looked around the campus. At lunch time, we met some Seiryo students who were studying there and I was glad to see them. 
 After that, we went to the senior center called "Foundation@House." It was so luxurious like a hotel. We sang some Japanese songs for senior residents. 
 In the evening, Mike took us to the Mexican food restaurant "Puerto Vallata" near our house. I ate tortilla, pudding and fried ice cream for dessert. They were so delicious.

Feb. 23, 2015 (Mon.)

 We went toa local fire station , and  asked  firefighters some questions. When we couldn't understand some anwsers, Laura explained them to us. We next  wore a firefighter suit and shot some water with a hose . It was so exciting! 
 We came back to the study center, and made some  cookies . I gave the cookies to Morgan and Logan later, and they looked happy.

Feb. 24, 2015 (Tue.)

 We visited Twin Lake  Elementary School . We told children how to count from one to ten in Japanese in six classrooms that day.  We also taught them how to write their name in katakana . We ate lunch and played with children on the school ground too. I like children, so I had a great time!
 In  the evening, I played basketball with Logan and his friends, and I got so tired. It was such a busy day.

Feb. 25, 2015 (Wed.)

 We visited downtown Seattle all day. We went to the University of Washington. It was a lot bigger than our college. At Pike Place Market, we visitedthe first Starbucks Coffee store, which  was so crowded. We bought the same T-shirt at the market too.
 At dinner, Mike took us to a hamburger shop near our house. Lin recommended the shake, so I drank the one with apple cinnamon. It was so delicious!

Feb. 26, 2015 (Thu.)

Mayu's host mother Jane came and teach us how to make a thanks card, and we made a thanks card with origami paper . After lunch, we made a memory journal for our host family. Lin gave us many stickers to decorate the journals.

Feb. 27, 2015 (Fri.)

 We made a journal before lunch, and we went bowling  in the afternoon. Laura taught us how to bowl.
 At night, I went to an elementary school with Morgan and Logan because they were showing the movie "Big Hero 6 "at school. There were many children with pajamas on. I enjoyed the movie.

Mar. 2, 2015 (Mon.)

 We experienced some  American holiday activities. We wore Halloween costumes and hunt for  Easter Eggs. We ate big delicious turkey and pumpkin pie for lunch . We had a great time.
 At night, we went to the ice cream shop called "Subzero. "I ate the one with cheese cake flavor. It changed from  liquid to solid. I was surprised.

Mar. 3, 2015 (Tue.)

 We made a journal and a photo frame for our host families all day. Choosing some photos and stickers was hard, but I finally finished making my photo frame.
 At night, we went to the house of Lin and Mike friend's family. They lived near my host family's house. I played some games with some adults. It was so fun.

Mar. 4, 2015 (Wed.) 
 
 We completed making journals . After that, we ate late lunch at a restaurant near the study center. I ate fish and chips. After lunch, we came back to the study center and wore Japanese summer kimono. 
 In the evening, we took part in our Sayonara Party. All of my host family came the party, so I was very happy. I really enjoyed the party, and our presentation was successful.  I took some pictures with my family and ate cake. After that, we played hide-and-seek with children. We had a great time.
 When we came back home, I  gave my Japanese summer kimono  to Morgan. Lin and Morgan looked happy, so I was happy too. At night, Lin and Mike gave me some presents. I was so surprised! It was a wonderful day.
