Weekdays with Laura
We took Laura's classes at the study center and went around in the area on the weekdays.
2/15(Mon.)
In the morning, we had the orientation with Laura. One of our past host sisters, Kara, joined us that week. After having lunch, we went to Target and bought some souvenirs.
After returning home, I made Hawaiian Pizza with Mom and Maymay for our welcome party. After that, we had the welcome party at the study center. We enjoyed eating American food and talking with each other.
At night, I met my host sister Tiara and her son Elijah for the first time. I gave them souvenirs from Japan. I was happy that they liked the souvenirs.

2/16(Tue.)
In the morning, we learned about American money. After having lunch, we visited the fire station. My host family, Mom, Joseph, Elijah, Maymay and her friend, came with us. The firefighters told us about their work and we asked them some questions. Then, we looked around the fire station. We got on a fire track, put on a firefighter suit and sprayed water. We enjoyed the visit!
After returning home, I jumped on the trampoline with Maymay and her friend at the yard. We enjoyed the trampoline for two hours.

2/17(Wed.)
Mom cooked pancake for breakfast. The pancake was in the shape of heart. It was very cute and delicious!
In the morning, we wrote a postcard for Japan. Then, we went shopping to Tacoma Mall with Kara and Chihiro's host mother Gwen. First, we went to a doghnut shop ”Krispy&Kream.” We shared many kinds of doughnuts. Most of the doughnuts were too sweet for me. Then, we looked around the mall and enjoyed shopping. I brought a T-shirt for my friend.
Dad cooked spaghetti with meat sauce for dinner. The spaghetti was spicy and delicious. We had dinner together as a whole family for the first time. I had a good dinner.

2/18(Thu.)
We visited Leavenworth. It took about three hours to go to Leavenworth. The place had many fun shops. At lunch time, we ate German sausages, chicken and so on. They were delicious! After lunch, we enjoyed shopping around. I bought some souvenirs with Kako. We had a good day.

2/19(Fri.)
In the morning, we took Laura's lesson. In the afternoon, we visited the police department and the courthouse. We looked around and asked some questions. We had a valuable experience.

2/22(Mon.)
In the morning, we went to Green River College. We met our college friends who were studying at the college. We looked around the campus and the library.
After that, we visited a nursing home. We talked with senior people and sang them some Japanese songs in English.

2/23(Tue.)
We learned about American holidays. We searched Easter eggs which were hidden by Laura, put on Halloween costume and talked about Japanese holidays. At lunch time, we ate holiday meals. They were delicious! My favorite meal was deviled egg.
After that, we made cupcakes and ate them with pies. We enjoyed talking with each other, eating and taking pictures.

2/24(Wed.)
We went on an excursion to Seattle. We first visited University of Washington and looked around the campus. I was surprised that the campas was very big. We then visited Pike Place Market. We also went to the first store of Starbucks Coffee and bought souvenirs. We enjoyed looking around and buying souvenirs.
After having lunch at a nearby mall, we went to the Space Needle by monorail. We wanted to go up The Space Needle, but it was closed because a private party was held in the afernoon.

2/25(Thu.)
We visited an elementary school. We made our presentation (how to count from one to ten in Japanese) five times, showed the students how to spell their name in Japanese katakana, and sang them Japanese songs. At the recess, we played with the students in the schoolyard. They were very powerful. We had lunch with them too.
After school, I went to Safeway with Mom to buy some ingredients for yakisoba. Then, I cooked yakisoba for my family. I was happy that they said“delicious.”

2/26(Fri.)
In the morning, we enjoyed playing card games with Laura. After lunch, we went bowling with Moe's host father Dana, Chihiro's host mother Gwen and Kako's host mother Mary. Laura taught us how to bowl. We enjoyed bowling!

2/29(Mon.)
We learned how to make message cards from Mai's host mother Jane. I made them well. After that, we went shopping near the study center. We visited See's Candies and Cold Stone. I bought lollypops at See's Candies.

3/1(Tue.)
We made a photo frame and a memory journal for our host family all day.

3/2(Wed.)
We finally finished making our photo frame and memory journal. Then, we practiced our presentation for the Sayonara Party. At the Sayonara Party, we were able to succeed in our presentation. After that, we enjoyed talking with each other, eating cake and taking pictures with our host families.
After returning home, my host family gave me a hoodie. My name was printed on it. I was very surprised and happy! I couldn't believe I was returning to Japan the next day.

3/3(Thu.)
It was our departure day. Mom made me my favorite breakfast, toast with cinnamon sugar. We then went to the study center and talked with our host family a lot. After saying goodbye to our host famiies, we went to the airport with Laura. At the airport, Laura gave us her final message. I was really sad and decided to come back to Laura and my host family again.
