Weekends with Host Family

Sun, Feb 11

I met Mary for the first time when I went to the living room in the morning. Actually, we had'nt met each other the day before. We talked together and went to church. Glenn and Denise were practicing with their band members there. I also met my host brother, Duane. First, I had no idea what I should do at the church, but everyone was friendly and I enjoyed the time after all. After that, Denise took me to some stores. My host brothers, Duane and David came to our house and we had dinner together. On this day, Duane made a cake. It was yummy!

Sat, Feb 17

I went to the Museum of Flight with Rika and her host family. Her host family explained to us at the museum until we understood. In the car on our way home, they suddenly gave us special bear dolls they had bought at the museum. It was a surprise present. We were very happy.

After I came back home, I went to Costco with Mary. We bought a lot of food for her volunteer work. I felt that shopping in America needs a lot of energy because each package is really big.

Sun, Feb 18

It was a very cold day because of snow. Kyra was sitting on the snow and I was surprised to see it. As usual, we went to church. After that, Denise and I wore kimono, which is one of her hobbies. She had a lot of kimono and I needed quite some time to decide my kimono to wear. She taught me how to wear kimono. I don't often wear kimono in Japan, so I was happy to wear one. Glenn took our pictures with his camera. I watched the movie High School Musical 2 and a TV show until dinner. They were funny.

Sat, Feb 24

We went to Seattle. Unfortunately, Mary couldn't go together. First, we visited the Museum of Pop Culture and we visited many booths there. After we left the museum, we had lunch and I ate fish fry for lunch. After that, we went for a walk aroud downtown Seattle and looked around souvenir shops. I enjoyed the whole day.

We watched the movie Moppet at night. We watched it because I had never watched it. The movie was so cute and fun.

Sun, Feb 25

After praying at the church, I saw and played the big pipe organ. I was imprssed with the sound. Denise and I then went to a lake because I wanted to see one.

In the afternoon, I made daigaku-imo. It's Japanese food. I made it well this time. Next, I watched the movie Star Trek. It was a difficult story for me to understand in English, but I understood because Denise sometimes explained it for me. In the evening, Duane and David came to our house and we went out for dinner. I ordered steak, and it was very nice!
