Host Mother

Sheila likes jokes. I always called her “Sheila.” She was often wearing a lovely headband.

Sheila likes Japanese culture such as kimono, castles and shrines. She went to Japan several years ago. She especially like Japanese snacks and tea.

Sheila is close to Mary, who is Shion's host mother. They are doing volunteer work at their church.

Sheila often showed me something fun on Facebook after dinner. I was pleased to hear her story every day. She clearly remember about many Japanese students who stayed in the past. She is holding each student near and dear.

When I was doing my homework, Sheila kept an eye on me and taught me various English terms. She renovated a room for me and took me out in cold to the study center every day. I got a lot of assistance from Sheila.

Mike is attractive. I always called him “Mike.” He is good at painting, and his beautiful paintings were hung all around in the house. Also, he often sells his painting. I painted a picture with him and talked with him after dinner every night.

Mike told me that he used to be a cook, and he sometimes prepared us supper.

Mike always made me laugh. For example, he put on a toy duck or wore Sheila's hair clip on his head.

Mike likes music too. His room has a lot of records and he was making music with a computer and a keyboard.

Mike has many hobbies, and he showed me various things. I really enjoyed the time to speak with Mike.

David takes good care of people. When the family ran into a problem, he helped them whenever. He is good at cooking, so he sometimes prepared supper too.

David likes Japanese music and anime. He played nice music over his speaker every dinner time. I watched Japanese anime with him after dinner every night. I really enjoyed watching anime movies in English.

When I stayed home because our class was canceled, David played video games with me.

David always wear his favorite hat when he goes out. He put his hat on my head when it was raining. He is a gentleman.

Host Grandfather

Lyle is Mike's father. He is an old man with lovely smile and is very healthy. I always called him “Grandpa.” He used to be a fisherman for many years, so he is strong and healthy. Also, he goes shopping by himself.

When Grandpa got up and came to the living room, he show up singing “Oh! Yeah!”

Grandpa always said, “Dinner is pretty good. Thank you for dinner,” after dinner time. He likes strawberries. When Sheila bought some for him, he was overjoyed and he was saying that he would make them into jam.

Grandpa especially liked Japanese dishes I made. I was really delighted for that.
