Weekends with Host Family

Feb. 9 (Sat)

I ate hot cereal for breakfast for the first time.

There were six hummingbirds in our house, and I saw them. They were tiny and beautiful, and I saw squirrels too. They were bigger than Japanese one. They were jumping, and very cute.

Then, I read the textbook for homestay with TerriLee. I was able to talk with TerriLee about a lot of things.

We spent our time watching movies. We watched "The Jungle Book" and "The Karate Kid." Those movies were not difficult for me to understand.

I ate big steak for dinner. David and TerriLee ate it rare, but I don't usually eat it rare, so TerriLee grilled mine for a long time. It was so juicy.

Beautiful Hummingbird

Feb.10 (Sun)

TerriLee made smoothie for breakfast. It was made from banana, blackberry, pineapple, yogurt and milk. The fruits were frozen, so the smoothie was cold. It was like sherbet. I liked it.

In the afternoon, we watched "The Grinch." Grinch was the main character. At first he had a bad character, but thanks to a girl, he became kind. It was a really interesting movie. I was moved and almost cried.

I had steam chicken, carrot and rice for dinner. The carrot was sweeter than Japanese one. When I sat on a sofa, Momo often came and sat on my legs. She was really cute.

Feb.16 (Sat)

For breakfast, I ate a hamburger and fried potato at "Arby's." The hamburger was very big.

We visited Ms. Gracie's house. She is TerriLee's mother. Her house was so big with the basement and a forest. Then, TerriLee showed me rooms and animals. Ms. Gracie had a black cat that looked like Momo, but he was bigger than Momo.

After we left Ms. Gracie's house, we went to a Japanese restaurant called "Akasaka." It had a small waterfall and many Japanese things. The owner was Korean. He looked like a Japanese, so I was surprised. We ate dinner at the counter. I was able to watch his cooking. I chose sashimi, tuna salad, eel sushi, miso soup and so on. Lastly, a clerk gave me a korean purse. All the dishes were tasty and everyone was kind, so Akasaka became my favorite restaurant.

We went to the zoo and the aquarium. Some animal zones were closed because it was too cold, but the zoo and the aquarium were combined, so we were still able to see many animals. We saw a white fox, wolues, otters and so on.

For lunch, I had a hamburger at the zoo restaurant. The hamburger was so delicious. TerriLee gave me fried onion, which was crispy.

After we had lunch, we went to see meerkats. A zoo keeper threw some food for them in front of me, so the meerkats came close to me. I saw them up close for the first time. It became a good memory. The meerkats were very cute and my favorite animal.

Lastly, TerriLee bought me a stuffed meerkat toy. It was so cute. I was so happy.

After we returned home, David made me some special coffee. It was sweet and tasty, and he gave me origami with a dollar bill design. I made two rings, and gave them to David and TerriLee.

I like it!

Very close!!

Feb.23 (Sat)

We went to the museum of flight. The museum had a long history. When we arrived there, we met TerriLee's son and his wife. He is familiar with airplanes, and he explained many airplanes to me. He spoke slowly, using simple words and gestures, so I understood. David and I playd a simulation game. We made a complete turn. I enjoyed it. Then, we watched a 3-D short movie. It was a little difficult. My favorite airplane was the one that was connected with a car. It was funny.

For dinner, we went to Burger Express. It was my host family's favorite hamburger shop. I ate a hamburger, French fries and black berry shake. The shake was especially good. I liked it.

Feb.24 (Sun)

TerriLee's son, his wife and their dog came to our house. He showed and explained many cars to me. He was familiar with cars too, and I was surprised. The dog was a nice big girl. I fed her a little. She was cute.

We watched "Minions." It was funny. I liked it.

We ate "Gumbo," which is a traditional meal in Louisiana. It was made from celery, paprika, purple onion, green pepper, sausage and shrimp. It was very tasty, but a little too spicy for me.

We watched "Harry Potter III," but I slept halfway thought watching it.

Thank you for two days!
