Weekends with Host Family

Sat, Feb 15

I went to Museum of Glass with my host family. I was happy because I wanted to go there. The museum was crowded. Some people took a guided tour. The works were very beautiful. And then we ate lunch and went to a shop. We also went to the university that Remi was going to go to.

We went to a hamburger shop for dinner. I ordered a single hamburger and vanilla shake, but I couldn't pronounce the word vanilla right, so Genie helped me out. The hamburger and shake were delicious. I was surprised when everyone started singing a song to background music in the shop.

I played pickleball for the first time. It was difficult for me to understand the rules and play it. I met some new people and palyed it with them. I learned that pickleball is popular among people of all generations.

After eating lunch, we went to a theater and I worked as a volunteer. I watched some performance, but I couldn't understand it well.

I met Ralph's parents and had dinner with them. They were so kind.

I went to Seattle with my host family. First, we visited the copmany that Ralph works for. The building was new and modern. Next we went to a seafood restaurant Ivar's, and I ate clam chowder. It was very good. I fed sea birds some leftover French fries. I was very scared. After that I took a ride on WINGS OVER WASHINGTON with Remi and Genie. It was exciting. And then I saw throwing fish at Pike Place Market.

After going home, we went to a basketball game. It was fun. I was excited to see a basketball game in America.

We had a fondue party for dinner. I was really happy to eat lots of cheese. I enjoyed the time with everyone.

I went to the community center with my host family to play pickleball. I didn't play it well, but I had a good exercise.

After that we went to a theater. I watched the same performance as the week before and I understood it a little better.

I made Teriyaki for dinner. It took a little long time to make it, but I was happy that everyone said, “It's excellent.”

I made my memory journal in the morning, and went to Southcenter Mall with my host family and a friend of Genine's in the afternoon. The mall was much bigger than those in Japan. I got around in it with Remi. Genie was looking for her prom dress, so I watched some pictures of the dresses. They were really beautiful. We ate Chinese food for dinner. I tried a dish that my host family liked a lot. It was very good and I liked it too. I had a very good day.

Sun, Mar 1

We played pickleball in the morning. It was the last day that I played it. I thought that I got a little better.

After that we went to a supermarket called Winco and the senior home that Alissa's mother lived. The senior home was as beautiful as a hotel.

We had dinner with Ralph's parents, and I enjoyed talking with them. I was surprised when everyone started talking in Spanish. I hugged them and said thank you.

I liked it!
