Weekends

Feb. 15 (Sat)

It was our first weekend. Daryl likes watching wrestling and he sometimes referees, so I asked him to teach me about wrestling. Jane took me to a wrestling match where he was refereeing. Jane said to me, “This match is so important.” I watched a wrestling match for the first time, and I thought it was powerful.Daryl was so cool as a referee.

After that, I went to Auburn Mall with Jane. She showed me every shop in line, so it was easy to look around. I bought some cosmetics because they were cheaper than in Japan. We also ate cinnamon churros at Cinnabon. It was so delicious.

We ate ramen for dinner. The shop was called “I love Ramen” near my host family's house. Jane really likes ramen and tempura. Some kimono were displayed in the shop. Jane saw a clerk speaking in Japanese and asked me, “What does that mean?” We talked a lot about Japanese.

We went home and watched the movie called “Downsizing.” It was Jane's favorite movie.

I went to a home center with Jane to buy some craft materials. There were a lot of cartridge paper and pretty stickers in the store.

After coming home, I made some cards with Jane. Jane really likes crafts, and she has a lot of cartridge paper, stickers, and ribbons in her craft room. She carefully taught me how to make cards, so even though I was clumsy, I was able to make one skillfully. We also made a memory book for Laura. We made it with colors and stickers that she liked.

I had dinner with my host family, Ms. Michelle, and her boyfriend in Tacoma. A building that used to be a fire station was turned into the restaurant. It was so nice. Jane said to me, “Tacoma is an old town.”

Craft with Jane

Feb. 22 (Sat)

I enjoyed craft with Jane, Gwen, Nana and Haruna at our house. We made some cards. I was so clumsy that I made one with Jane's advice. Thanks to Jane, I came to like craft. I told that to Jane, and she gave me a lot of cartridge paper and an utility knife, and showed me some YouTube sites for craft.

Jane cooked salad with delicious crab for dinner. She boldly butchered a crab, and it was so cool. We watched NHK while eating the meal. Jane likes watching NHK very much and she said to me, “I watch it a lot.” I was surprised that NHK was televised in America.

Feb. 23 (Sun)

I enjoyed craft with Jane. She asked me, “What do you want to make?” I said, “I'd like to make a glasses case.” Jane came up with its shape and size and we made one together. I like the works she creates. We also talked about many things. For example, stories that we had in the past, families, and friends. I was glad that I learned about Jane! Jane told me to tell my mother that Jane was thankful to her for making her to meet a wonderful daughter. I said to her, “Thank you for accepting me so much.”

I said to Jane, “I wanted to eat tacos,” and she took me to Taco Time for dinner. American tacos were very heavy.

We took the photos with an app to exchange our faces with each other's. We laughed so hard because our faces were so funny! Jane said to me, “You look like a Dutch, and I look like a Chinese.” It was so funny.

It was the last weekend. We went to some sightseeing sites with my host family and Haruna. I danced to the rhythm of the music with Jane in her car, and we arrived at our destination all too soon.

First, we went to Port of Poulsbo. There were many boats there and Jane said to me, “People come here for the holidays.”

I ate fried salmon for lunch. It was delicoius. I bought two records in a shop. I didn't have a record player, but I saw records for the first time and I bought one.

Next, we took a ferry to Seattle. We got to Seattle in 20 minutes. I was looking at the view at the head of the ferry, but it was so windy and cold that I hid behind Daryl. The view of Seattle from the ocean was so beautiful.

I went to the ocean with Haruna and her host family. We went out early in the morning. It was great for me because I love the ocean. We went to Ocean Shores in two hours by car. The beach was so large and we were able to go near the ocean. I borrowed boots from Gwen, and I went into the ocean with Haruna. Haruna's host father Ben likes flying kites and he had many kinds of kites. Ben taught me how to fly a kite, but it was so difficult to control it and I dropped it again and again. Haruna and I ran around the beach with her dog Eros. He was a fast runner. I also talked with Gwen that I like mermaids and later she gave me a stuffed toy mermaid and a mug as a surprise! They were so cute and my favorite. Thank you so much!
