Weekends


Sat, Feb 17th

It was the first weekend with my host family. In the morning, I drove with Kim. First, we went to a DIY store. The store had a lot of tools, so it was huge. Kim took me to many places during the three weeks. Next, we went to Costco with Wanda. I went to Costco for the first time, so I was excited. They gave me gloves. They were very warm.

We had lunch at Popeyes, and I liked it. In the evening, we went to Wanda's mother's house. We made lava cakes. I like making sweets, so I enjoyed making them. While baking them, I visited Tomomi's host family's house with Kim. Tomomi wasn't there, but I talked with her host family, Karen and George.

We ate chicken from Costco for dinner. Wanda cooked rice, so I was happy. It was good. After dinner, we ate a lava cake with ice cream. I really liked it.

I liked driving with Kim and Wanda.

Sun, Feb 18th

We had brunch every Sunday morning. I made waffles and pancakes with Wanda. It was my job. I enjoyed making them every Sunday. I liked an omelet with cheese. It was really good. Strawberry jam was also one of my favorites. I made it once.

In the afternoon, we went to the park to find a troll with Kim and Wanda. In the car, Kim let me listen to many kinds of music on the radio. It was fun because I like music very much. There were many people in the park. We found a big troll there. The troll had long hair, and she had her hair tied up. She was so beautiful. I was impressed.

I liked Sunday the most.

Sat, Feb 24th

I went to an island to find trolls with Kim and Wanda this morning. We went there with Bear. I enjoyed walking him in a park. First, we found a troll near the sea. Her nails were made of seashells. They were very cute. After that, we walked along the seaside with Bear. On the way, I found cherry blossoms. It was my favorite tree, so I was happy to see them. They were beautiful.

Next, we rode a ferry in a car. We were going to Vashon Island to find a troll. It was my first time riding a ferry while in the car. I was surprised and excited. Kim showed me around the ferry. We walked around and took a lot of pictures. After the ferry arrived on the island, we went to a park. We found a huge troll. He was a god of birds, so aviaries surrounded him. We enjoyed taking photos with him. After that, we visited an old lighthouse. I listened to the story about the lighthouse told by an old man. He used to work as a captain. I learned some history.

We got on our way home after leaving the island. On the way, we bought hamburgers at Dairy Queen. I enjoyed driving with Kim and Wanda. In the evening, I cooked Japanese dishes for my host family. I cooked mushroom miso soup and grilled pork with ginger. I was really nervous because I had no confidence in cooking, but my host family said, "These are delicious." I was very happy to hear that. And I was surprised that Kim and Alex used chop sticks. After dinner, I played UNO with Kim and Wanda. I liked playing it with them at night. I played while eating ice cream and smelling a candle. It was my favorite time. Thank you so much, Kim and Wanda.

Sun, Feb 25th

I made waffles and pancakes because it was Sunday! I was able to make them better than the previous week. In the morning, I made an apple crisp with Wanda. I liked the smell very much. In addition, we baked bread with a bread maker. I liked watching it make it.

In the afternoon, Eric came to our house with his wife. Eric is a host brother and a chef. I liked his character. I cooked with him. We cooked two kinds of lasagna. It was really fun, and Eric taught me how to cook it. I cooked lasagna well, thanks to him. I also talked with his wife. She likes Ghibri, and I like it, too. We talked so much. We had dinner together. At the end, we ate an apple crisp with whipped cream. It was great, and I ate it twice. I want to eat it again.

Sat, Mar 2nd

I went to Bellingham with Kim and Wanda to meet their friends. It took about four hours to get there by car. It was a long day. At lunch time, we ate hamburgers at Jack in the car. We talked a lot. Finally, we arrived at the friend's house. The house was big. I saw a lake from a window in the house. The friends were kind. I introduced myself, and they asked me, "Do you want to go to almost Canada?" We decided to go there.

We were heading for Canada, but we took the wrong way. We got in line for Canada by car. I didn't have my passport with me, so I needed to get out of the car. I got out of the car with Wanda. We decided to wait for Kim to come back. We took pictures in front of the statue of peace. And we walked around a park. It was very cold because the sun was setting, but it was a good memory. The park closed at 7 p.m., so we had to get out there. We then walked to Starbucks for fifteen minutes, and we bought a hot drink there. Finally, Kim came back to America, and we met again.

After that, we went to Applebee's to have dinner with Kim and Wanda's friends. I ate mac & cheese. I was very cold, so I was happy to eat something hot. It took us 3 hours to get home by car. I got tired, but it was a very good experience and adventure.

Sun, Mar 3rd

I went to the pet shop where Alex works. The shop had a lot of fish. I took many pictures of them for my brother because he loves fish. They were very beautiful. The shop also had birds and cats. I talked with a parrot in English. After I got home, I studied English while Wanda went to her mother's house. I often studied English in the living room. When I couldn't understand well, I asked Kim. He always answered easily and kindly.

In the evening, Kim took me for a drive. I really wanted to buy candles for my souvenirs. I finally got two candles at Walmart. Kim bought me a milk shake. I enjoyed drinking it with him. We drove along the seaside. The view was beautiful, even though it was cloudy. We had dinner at Azteca. I ate many Mexican foods in America. They were good. I especially liked guacamole. I couldn't eat it all, so I packed it and brought it for lunch the next day.

Fish were cute.

I liked driving with Kim.
