DAY 16: 3/2 (Fri.)
cloudy
Cooking Day
We first spend a little time working on our memory journals, and then started a cooking lesson. We were planning to cook or make some similar dishes between American and Japanese food. That is, we made pizza, biscuits, and jelly as American dishes and okonomi-yaki (Japanese pizza/pancake), onigiri (rice ball), and kanten (gelatin) as Japanese dishes. We read the recipes written in English and enjoyed cooking for a while. It took us about 90 minutes before the whole cooking was done, and we finally had a very delicious lunch. Pizza and okonomi-yaki were especially yummy. The cooking lesson was a total success. Yes, we can be a real cook!
We had class only during the morning that day. We then went home at noon, and spent the afternoon with our own host families.
