DAY 15: 2/28 (Thur.)
rainy
Visit UW and Seatle's Waterfront AreaWe took a full day excursion to Seattle's waterfront area that day. We first visited University of Washington, and a cute girl Kendra, who is a friend of Laura's and is studying at UW, showed us around. We first looked inside of the huge library. The inside of the library building was so beautiful and looked just like the buildings we saw in the Harry Potter movies. We also saw some classroom buildings or recreational facilities for the students. We were surprised to see a bowling alley in there.
We then went to Seattle Center, which is famous for the Space Needle, the landmark of the city of Seattle. The weather was not really good that day, but we went up to the observatory deck of the Space Needle and took some pictures there. We later enjoyed looking around the souvenir shop at the bottom of the tower.
We then took a monorail reached at West Lake Center, which is a major shopping mall, had lunch at the food court, and spent a little time shopping at the mall.
We next walked to Pike Place Market in the afternoon. We went to the first store of Starbucks Coffee as well, and we all bought some souvenirs at the store. We then spent about two hours shopping around the market. Three of us even got ourselves on TV!
We also visited Safeco Field, which is the Seattle Mariners' home stadium. We couldn't get inside of the stadium, but we enjoyed shopping in the Mariners' store. Our final stop was at Uwajimaya, a Japanese grocery store, and we made some shopping for our host families or friends and families in Japan. We spent a lot of money for shopping that day, but it sure was a fun day!
