DAY 17: 2/26 (Mon.)
sunny
Visit UW and Seatle's Waterfront Area

We took a full day excursion to Seattle's waterfront area that day, and Mai's host sister Denise joined us again. We first visited University of Washington, and looked around the campus. We first looked inside of a huge library. The inside of the library building was so beautiful and looked just like the buildings we saw in the Harry Potter movies.   We also saw recreational facilities for the students.  The campus was simply so huge, and they even had a bowling alley on it.

We then took a little tour to the Freemont area, and saw the famous Freemont Troll.  The sculpture was just huge.  After we visited a chocolate factory called "Theo," we looked around the city in a van, and enjoyed lunch at a hamburger restaurant in a mall.

We first visited
Pike Place Market in the afternoon. We went to the first store of Starbucks Coffee, and bought some souvenirs at the store. We then spent some time looking around and shopping at the market. When we visited the famous (infamous?) Market Theater Gum Wall, some of us even put our own gum on the wall.

We also visited Safeco Field , which is the Seattle Mariners' home statidum, and dropped by the Mariners' store. We were surpried to see Ichiro's jersey was still on sale, but guess what. He's coming back to Mariners' this year!

Our final stop was at Uwajimaya, a Japanese grocery store, and we made a little shopping for our host families or friends and families in Japan.

We didn't have enough time to visit the famous Space Needle or the Seattle Great Wheel, but  it was still a very good day!
