I was interested in studying abroad since I was a high school student. I liked English, but I didn't get a good score at school. I thought I wanted to learn more and to get some confidence in myself. I was concerned about spending six months in a foreign country, but I decided to go to Seattle after all.
After I arrived in America, I got homesick because I couldn't understand English or speak it. I thought I couldn't do that. However, I felt better after the class began. Even though I couldn't speak English, I tried to speak English and communicate by using it. When I was able to communicate with my friends, I was so happy. I thought I could do that!
I made a lot of friends from other countries. When I came back to Japan, I was so sad. My friends gave me a lot of good memories, and now we keep in touch. I learned some American culture. I thought that foreigners like Japanese culture. That's why I liked Japan more. Spending six months in America required me some courage, but I got many nice things. If I had stayed in Japan, I wouldn't have got enough confidence and much experience. I want to thank my family, teachers, Misa and Honoka for supporting me!
If you think about studying abroad, don't be afraid to go there. You'll have a good experience. You don't have a lot of chances to do something in your life. Do your best!
