At the beginning, I was really worried about whether I could
make friends and communicate with them because I was not very good at
English and had to join the class about ten days after it started. Of course,
other classmates already knew what to do in the class, so it made me more worried
because I thought nobody wanted to do group work with someone who didn't
understand what to do at all. However, I tried to join the class work and asked them
with my charm at the time, even though I was really afraid to communicate
with them. In my case, it was much more important to
focus on nonverbal communication, such as facial expressions and gestures, than vocabulary. The more
I talked to someone with a smile, even though I didn't have good English
skills, the more I could make many friends and enjoy
communicating. Moreover, I can still contact them on Instagram, and so on. So, if you are
confident and able to try to communicate, they must accept you and understand you.
Now, I'm going to try to get skills in other languages, such as Chinese, Korean, and so on, while improving my English skills. If I meet people who I encountered while studying abroad, I want to express my appreciation in their native language. Moreover, studying abroad gave me not only high motivation but also a great dream. I have a dream of getting an international job after feeling the diversity in America. I feel that getting my ideal image for this goal and meeting people who kept in touch even when we were apart were worth much more than the six months. I am very grateful to the teachers who supported me, my friends and teachers in America, and the two friends who spent this study abroad life with me. Thank you very much for this valuable experience. |
