As a part of our first class Mrika made American lunch for me! In the afternoon, we went to a shopping mall near the study center. After that, we went shopping. Marika came to pick up Aya and me at 4 pm. Jay, Marika and I came back to the study center for Welcome Party in the evening. Host families came to the party with potluck meals. We went to a fire station. I was surprised because the station was very different from the one in Japan. It was rainy, but it was an exciting day! In the afternoon, we leaned how to use American money. It was difficult, and I needed some time to get it. I ate dinner with Alex, his girlfriend and his friend. |

Feb. 22nd (Wed.)
I got up one hour earlier than usual. We went to a snowy mountain village called Leavenworth. Denise didn't come with us that day, and another teacher guide, Laura came with us. She used to be a teacher guide for Seiryo students before. Leavenworth is a German village, and is full of Christmas atmosphere every day. There're a row of cute stores. We ate sausage, chicken and cutlet for lunch. |

Feb. 23rd (Thu.)
We
went to Federal Way City Hall and the police
department. I was surprised because the
police department was in the city hall. In
Japan, the police department is not in the city hall.
I saw a police dog for the first time.
He was very strong and I touched him. We also
saw the court room in the city hall but I
couldn't understand what was going on. After that, Marika took me to eat 31 ice-cream with her friend, Christine. She was 19 years old but she looked more matured. |

We visited Green River Community College and a nursing home. When we went to Green River Community College, I felt excited as the campus was very big. We ate lunch at the school cafeteria. I thought onion fry was very good and I would recommend it to everyone. After that, we went to a nursing home. I was surprised because the building looked like a big fancy hotel! We sang "furusato" for the senior people. |

Feb. 27th (Mon.)
We went to an elementary school and we taught students Japanese numbers. Our group taught children in the 3rd grade and the 4th grade. The children got interested in our lesson, and we also taught them how to write their names in katakana, Japanese "hello," Japanese "thank you" and so on. In the break time between classes, I played with students but I got tired because the children were running around every minute. |

I took potato salad and gingerbread man to the study center. Marika and I made them the night before. Everyone looked happy! |

Feb. 29th (Wed.)
We went to Seattle! First, we went to Space Needle but we couldn't go up the tower because the weather was very bad, and we couldn't see the nice view. We also went to the UW library, Pike Place Market, the first store of Starbacks Coffee, Safeco Field and so on! I saw a local specialty "Flying fish" at Pike Place Market and I was very happy. We bought matching T-shirts. I was happy because I visited Seattle for real, not in pictures. |

Mar. 2nd (Fri.)
We made American meals and Japanese meals. We called the day "Cooking Day." My friends and I made pizza and okonomiyaki, which looked like pizza. We finally made delicious pizza and okonomiyaki. I was surprised because they put pineapple on American pizza! In Japan, we never put it on pizza. |

Mar. 5th (Mon.)
We prepared for Sayonara Party in the morning and went shopping at Target for a little time in the afternoon. I wanted to do some shopping but I didn't have enough money. As a result, I borrowed $20 from Mr. Nonaka. We ate pizza for supper and we got dressed in yukata for the party. We welcomed our host family and started Sayonara Party. Our group made a presentation about "kanji." I tried hard, and it went well. |
