Laura's Classes

Feb. 14th (Fri)

Kim, Jacob and Jacob's friend Claire picked me up at the study center.   Claire was very friendly and she showed me the movie "FROZEN" with Japanese subtitle.   Jacob and Claire often cook and this day they gave me cookies which they made
In the evening, we went to the Welcome Party.   All the host families brought some dishies to the study center, and my host family brought salad.   Ryann and Janell could not join the party, but Claire came, so I was glad.   We talked with each host family and played games, and  I enjoyed the party .
When I came back home, Jacob introduced himself to me in Japanese.   We sometimes studied English and Japanese together .

Feb. 17th (Mon)

In the morning, we talked about how we had spent our weekend, and what kind of dishes we had eaten.
At the fire station where we visited in the afternoon, I got onto a fire engine and sprayed waterYoung firefighters showed us how to change into a firefighting suit very quickly (about 1 min) .  When I was interviewing with firefighters, I was not used to hearing English yet.   Then Laura told me things in simple English .
Jane drove us to the fire station, but I got car sick .    I made everyone nervous in Jane's car.

Feb. 18th (Tue)

I went to Jane's home in the morning and ate breakfast with Haruka.
We went to Tacoma Mall for class and we ate very sweet doughnuts at a doughnuts shop.   At lunch time, I shared my lunch with Mizuki, and then we talked about pets with Gwen (Mizuki's host mother).   When I chose Jacob's birthday present, Gwen gave me some advice with enthusiasm .
After we came back to the study center, Jane taught us how to make a snowman out of a sock.   From this time on, Kara (our senior's host sister two years ago) came and joined us as a volunteer sometimes .

Feb. 19th (Wed)

We went to the police station and the city hall.   American police officers were so much more friendly than Japanese police officers and they were cool.   Laura guided us around the city hall.   In a car, Kara and I were talking, and then we noticed that we had the same taste for hobbies. We gradually talked with each other
Jacob picked me up with Kim, and then we  sang "Happy Birthday" for him.   When we came back home, I found the living room decorated for his birthday.   I was so surprised.    At dinner, I ate spaghetti with meatball, which Jacob loved .   I gave a birthday present to Jacob and he liked it, so I was very happy .

Feb. 20th (Thu)

We went sightseeing to Seattle all day.   We went to the University of  Washington, the Space Needle, Pike Place Market and so on .   The library at the University of Washington was so beautiful and huge.   At Pike Place Market, I bought a T-shirt.   I chose gifts for my family and host family with Mayuko and Shiho.   The first Starbucks Coffee store was very crowded.   Kara came with us that day, and I really enjoyed talking with her about a Japanese anime office, Ghibli .
I came back home with Haruka and celebrated Jacob's 15th birthday.   Ryann made the cake that you can see below.   It was good but a little too sweet for me, so I couldn't eat much.   After dinner, Jacob taught Haruka and me English tongue twisters, but we couldn't say them well.   We taught Jacob Japanese tongue twisters in return, and he said them easily and well , and we were very surprised.

Feb. 24th (Mon)

We learned about American holidays.   Kim and Jacob let me have a costume, and I put on a witch dress.   I enjoyed our Halloween party.   I painted Easter eggs, got chocolates and ate special dishes.    I loved turkey, pumpkin pie and mashed potato.    They tasted wonderful!
I made dinner for my host family in the evening.   I made rice omelet, and Kim helped me cut some ingredients for it.    My host family were surprised at mixing rice with tomato ketchup for the meal.    I was very nervous what if they wouldn't like rice omelet, but Trent said to me, "It was good," and he ate it up.   I was very very happy .

Feb. 27th (Thu)

We went to Leavenworth all day.   It took about three hours to get there, and I got car sick again.   There were many gift shops in Leavenworth.   We ate delicious sausages for lunch .   After we ate lunch, Mizuki and I walked around the town, and then we bought gifts for our Japanese families and our host families.
Kim had a special plan for dinner that day.   We went to a Japanese restaurant called Koharu Restaurant.   I was surprised that Ryann, Janell, Jacob and Trent used chopsticks very  well.   Kim and Janell tried to eat fresh octopus , but they couldn't eat it up.    I liked their reaction when they were trying to eat it, which was so funny.

 Mar. 3rd (Mon)

After dinner, we put on Yukata.   Laura and Mayuko knew how to wear Yukata very well, and  they helped us when we forgot how to wear Yukata.   It took us a long time to get dressed, so we didn't have enough time to practice for our presentation for the Sayonara Party.
I really enjoyed the Sayonara Party.   I was happy because Kara participated in it and she sat in front of me when we made our presentation.   She made me relaxed.   I was happy that I hugged with  Morgan and Logan (Nana's host sister and brother) .
Jacob drove a car when we came back home.   His driving was so funny and a little dangerous.   Ryann and I broke up laughing .   On our way home, we picked up Janell at Dairy Queen and we ate a light meal in there.
At home, Ryann, Jacob and I played with a balloon.   It was the last time we shared time together, and it was good memory .
