Teacher Guide

Laura is cheerful and so funny.  She is a very wonderful person.  I like her very much. She often told us a joke and made us laugh.  She always made us happy.   We learned a lot of things from her, for example, English, culture, holidays, food and so on.  I enjoyed her classes.

I was so excited to meet my host family, but I was a little nervous because it was my first trip to a foreign country.  I couldn't sleep very well on the plane, but I enjoyed watching movies instead.  We arrived in America and we met Laura.  We then went to Chocolate Factory, Snoqualmie Falls and a hamburger restaurant. The hamburgers were a lot bigger than Japanese ones, so I shared the hamburger with my friends.  It was very delicious !

After that, we met our host family.  Debbie was waiting for me at the study center.  She was so kind and cheerful, so I relieved my tension.  When I went to the Herndon's home, Howard welcomed me and I was very happy .  My host family taught me about their house rules, and gave me American souvenirs I was glad about it  .

WOOOOW !

After the party, I came home and met Raina, Jason, Jimmie and Avalynn.  Jimmie was always laughing.  He was so funny !  He made me feel better.

The First Class

FUN!

Feb. 17th, Mom.

In class, we learned some  differences in culture or life between Japan and America.  In the afternoon, we visited a local fire department .  The firefighters were very kind and cool!  They told us that most firefighters (About 70%) worked as a volunteer in the US.  We were very surprised to hear that!  Later, me put up a firefighter's suit.  It was big and heavy, but we got  so excited !  And we shot water with a hose on the road.  We had a good experience.

At home, Debbie cooked curry.  It was very delicious!  And Howard showed me a Japanese funny short movie on his computer .  It was so funny.

Yay!

Jimmie became 3 years old in April.

Feb. 19th, Wed.

We visited a local police department, the city hall and a community center in Federal Way with Kara, one of our past host sisters .  The police department was huge and a circular building.  I nearly got lost.  We saw many police cars and motorcycles.   They were so cool!  I was excited!  A female police officer had very short hair and her hair color was almost grey.  She was really kind and cool !  I wish I could have taken a picture with her.  The police officers taught us a lot of things.  We learned about American police departments.   We spent a good time.

After dinner, I showed Debbie my pictures from Japan and we took part in a Bible study in the neighborhood.  It was difficult for me to understand what people were talking about, but Debbie taught me in an easy way to understand it.  I was a little nervous, but James made me happy.  I enjoyed talking with some people.

Trying to Go Inside Men's Locker Room

Feb. 20th, Thur.

We went to Seattle for sightseeing.  First, we visited the University of Washington.  The university was very beautiful and huge.  When we went into one building, I was very surprised because it had a bowling alley inside .  Most students on campus had big bags like a climbing backpack.  After that, we ate lunch in a food court at a shopping mall.  Nana and I ate some wonton soup.  Then, an unforgettable incident occurred!  The soup was good, but I didn't like cilantro leaves in it.  I ate cilantro leaves for the first time.  I didn't like taste, but I enjoyed lunch anyway.  After lunch, we went to Pike Place Market and bought a T-shirt in matching clothes.

At home, Howard showed me his PC screen.  The cherry trees were reflected on the screen.  They were so beautiful

Thinking ....

It was good, but I didn't like cilantro leaves.

After school, Debbie took me to a  wonderful place, which was her favorite.  The place had  very beautiful scenery, and I felt calm and relaxed.  I loved the place, too .  I was glad.
