Laura is very cheeerful and funny. We enjoyed talking and shopping with her.







Feb. 15th (Mon)

In the morning, we learned about some manners, races in America and so on as our first class at the study center. In the afternoon, we went to a shopping mall nearby. I was surprised because the mall was much bigger than the one in Japan.

In the evening, we had the welcome party. We enjoyed eating, talking and playing a game with each host family.






Feb. 16th (Tue)

In the morning, we learned how to count American money. It was difficult for me!! In the afternoon, we went to the fire station. First, we asked firefighters some questions. After that, we tried putting on firefighting suit and spraying water outside. I tried it for the first time, and it was a good experience.

After school, I went to a diving shop with Gwen. The shop was where Hannah worked part-time. There were a lot of diving goods and pictures in there. I had a fun time!!!






Feb. 17th (Wed)

In the morning, I visited the school where Gwen worked for a short time. After that, I went to the study center and wrote a picture postcard to my family in Japan. In the afternoon, we went to Krispy Kream doughnuts shop. The doughnuts were too sweet for me!!! After that, we went to Tacoma Mall. I was surprised because the mall was very big!!





Feb. 18th (Thu)

We went to Leavenworth. It took about 2 hours to get there, so I had to get up early that day. We ate German food for lunch. It was delicious!! After that, we enjoyed shopping and taking pictures in town. I bought some souvenirs for my host family and my friends. We had a great time.






Feb, 19th (Fri)

In the morning, we practiced some pronunciation, and it was difficult for me. In the afternoon, we went to the police station and the local law court. Those facilities were bigger than Japanese ones. First, we went to the police station. A police staff guided us in there, and at the same time, she told us about the police work, patrol cars and so on. Second, we went to the law court. I had never been to one in Japan, so I was a little nervous. We wore a judge's robe!! We had a great time.






Feb. 22nd Mon

We went to Green River College and a local senior center. First, we went to Green River College. We looked around the college. After that, we met our old friends from Seiryo College and had lunch. Second, we went to the senior center. It looked very expensive and looked like a high rank hotel. We sang two Japanese songs for the residents and also talked with them.





Feb. 23rd (Tue)

We experienced some American national holidays such as Easter, Thanksgiving and Halloween. First, we tried some egg hunting for Easter. Socond, we ate some American food for Thanksgiving. It was very delicious. Mai's host mother Jane roasted a turkey for us. I was surprised because it was very big!!! Third, we wore a Halloween costume. I wore a baseball player's costume. After that, we made some cupcakes. They were good.






Feb. 24th (Wed)

We went sightseeing in Seattle all day. We went to University of Washington, Pike Place Market, West Lake Center and Uwajimaya. First, we went to University of Washington. I was surprised that the campus was very large and there was even a bowling alley on the premises. Second, we went to Pike Place Market. We enjoyed shopping in there. We also went to the first Starbucks Coffee store. I bought some souvenirs for my family and host family there. Third, we went to a shopping mall called West Lake Center, and had lunch there. After that, we got on a monorail. Finally, we went to a Japanese supermarket Uwajimaya. I bought souvenirs for my host family there.






Feb. 25th (Thu)

We went to an elementary school to have a presentation. We taught school children how to count from 1 to 10 in Japanese and how to write their names in katakana. After that, we had lunch, played with children outside and sang them some Japanese songs. The children were super-active, so I got tired!! I still spent a fun time with them.

In the evening, I made some pizzas with Gwen and Hannah. They were delicious!!






Feb. 26th (Fri)

In the morning, we played cards with Laura. In the afternoon, we went to a bowling alley with some of our host-families. Laura and Gwen were very good at bowling. They taught us how to bowl well. We had a great time.





Feb. 29th (Mon)

In the morning, we made a memorial journal and a photo frame for our host-family. In the afternoon, we made two kinds of crafts. Mai's hostmother Jane taught us how to make them. We gave them to our host-family. We had a good time!!

After school, I babysat 3 boys with Hannah. I like children, so I had a great time with them. After that, I went to a bowling alley with Gwen and Hannah. Kaori and Laura also came there. I enjoyed watching bowling!!





Mar. 1st (Tue)

In the morning, I went to Target with Kaori and Laura. Laura bought some DVDs for Mr. Nonaka and handed him those DVDs. After that, we went to school. We kept working on the journal and the photo frame. I made them with all my heart.





Mar. 2nd (Wed)

In the morning, we practiced our presentation. In the afternoon, we went for our last shopping at Target. Mai and I bought matching clothes. After that, we came back to the study center and had some pizzas for dinner. They were delicious!! After that, we changed into kimono and had our hair set.

In the evening, we had the Sayonara Party and made our presentation. I was nervous, but we were successful with it. After that, we talked and took pictures with our host-family, ate a big cake and gave a present to Laura. We had a great time!!
