Laura was our teacher guide. She is very funny and kind. She taught us many things, and always made us laugh. I enjoyed shopping and talking with her.




2/13 (Mon)

We first learned about safety in America. Laura them taught us how to pronounce “w” and “th” sounds properly, and we placticed it many times. Laura's class was fun.

In the afternoon, we went shopping near our study center. I was surprised that everything was very big. We had the welcome party at the study center in the evening. I enjoyed talking a lot with other host families. I had a lot of fun.






2/14 Tue

In the morning, we continued to practice pronouncing difficult sounds for us. It was difficult for me to pronounce diferent sounds “would” and “ wood,” so I asked Jane to help me pronounce those difficult sounds and I practiced hard many times. In the afternoon, we went to the fire station. It was precious experience because I had a chance to get on a fire engine and put on a firefighting uniform. The fire fighters answered our questions slowly to help us understand them easily. I had a great time.

After class, I went to a supermarket H-mart,” which sold Asian food. Jane bought me sushi there. She was glad because Daryl gave her a bunch of flowers and some cheese when we arrived home. In the evening, I ate the big humburger Jane made. It was very delicious. I was really glad because Jane gave me a big chocolate.







2/15 Wed)

We went to Green River College. I was surprised that the college campus was very large. I was glad because Yumi's host mother Gwen bought us key rings. After that, we met Hijiri and Nao, our friends who had been studing there. I enjoyed talking with them.

In the afternoon, we went to Tocoma Mall, and I shared food with Chizuru and Akina Y. for lunch at the food court. I especially liked orange chicken. After that, we enjoyed shopping in the mall. There were many kinds of stores and I bought some souvenirs. I wanted to have more time for shopping.

In the evening, Jane took me to a buffet restaurant. The dishes were very delicious. I saw some differences in a buffet restaurant between America and Japan. I felt so happy to eat icecream.







2/16Thu

We went to Leavenworth in a van for a long time. It was a bit cold, but the view was very beautiful. We saw pretty stores and German style buildings. I enjoyed looking around many stores there, and I bought good souvenirs for my family. After that, I shared sweet cream and passion fruit icecream with Akina S. It tasted very sweet, but I liked it.

In the evening, I watched the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” in Yumi's house. Yumi's host mother Gwen made us healthy dishes. They were very delicious.

After I came home, I was at a loss that I didn't come up with good questions to ask at the courthouse the next day, so I asked Jane for help. I was glad that she helped me out.






2/17 Fri

In the morning, Laura taught us how to count coins. We went to the courthouse, the police station and the City Hall with some of our host families. First we went to the courthouse. The judge spoke very fast, so I didn't understand what he was talking about. I was surprised that the police station was in the City Hall building. I saw police cars and police cells. It was good experience.

After class, I went shopping with Carter and Kacin. I played various American games and played catch with Carter. Carter taught me how to play the games. I really enjoyed it, but I got a little tired.


2/20 Mon

I was absent from school beause I had a stomachache. I couldn't eat anything in the morning. Jane took care of me, and she brought me some food which I wanted to eat. I ate sushi, soup and strawberries at night. I slept for a long time, so I was getting better. I deeply appreciated Jane and Dallyl's care.


2/21 Tue

We learned about some American holidays that day. We explained Laura about Children's Day and the Girls' Day in Japan in return. It was difficult for me to explain Japanese holidays. At lunch time, we shared a lot of dishes our host family made like Thanksgiving I was not hungry, so I couldn't eat a lot of dishes. After that, we wore Halloween costumes and we took many pictures in the afternoon. I had a lot of fun. In the evening, I talked a lot with Jane.







2/22 Wed

We went to an elementary school and taught students how to say ten colors in Japanese and how to write their names in Katakana. I was glad that the students responded to us positively and they asked us many questions. I enjoyed doing our presentation. American students were very powerful and positive. At lunch time, I enjoyed talking with many students. However, I didn't understand them because the students spoke at the same time. I was surprised that I saw a girl who ate bread with mustard only. Ater that, we played with the students outside. Every student was very pretty. I got tired, but I spent a great time there.

 






2/23 Thu

We went to Seattle. First, we went to University of Washington. The campus was very large. There were many books in the library and it looked like the Harry Potter world. We took a jumping picture in front of the library. Second, we went to a Chocolate Factory. I tried curry fravored chocolates, but I didn't like it. Third, we went up Space Needle. It was snowing, so the view from its top was not good. However, I got so excited.

In the afternoon, we went to Starbucks and I bought coffee for my grandmother. I was surprised that Yumi bought many things there. After that, we went to Pike Place Market. There were many stors and I got many Seattle souvenirs. I had a lot of fun. Next, we went to Safeco Field. I was glad that I found IWAKUMA T-shirts. Finally, we went to Uwajimaya, which is a supermarket selling Japanese food. I enjoyed going to various places and spent a great time that day.







2/24 Fri

In the morning, we made chocolate sweets. Mr.Nonaka's host mother Terry taught us how to make chocolate crackers. It was very delicious, but it tasted a little too sweet. for me. It looked like KitKuts.” I liked it. In the afternoon, we went bowling. Akina's host mother and father were good at bowling. I couldn't bowl well, but I was still excited.

After class, Jane and Daryl took me to a beauty salon. After that, we went to a restaurant and I ate meatballs and spaghetti. The meatballs were very big. I talked with Jane and Daryl about my family and Japan. I spent a good time with them.







2/27 Mon

We made a memory photo frame for our host family. I made it with various cute paper and stickers, so I made it well.

After school, I went to see a movie. The movie was very interesting and nice. Jane bought me a big bucket of popcorn at the movie theater. It was very yummy. The American movie theater had soft seats, so it was comfortable to sit there. I wanted to go to the movie theater again.






2/28Tue

We continued to make our journals and I asked Laura to correct my sentences. I was able to focus well and work to please my host family.

Jane made me salmon pasta for dinner. It was very delicious. After eating, we went to an icecream store with Carter. The store had various kinds of flavor and many toppings. I was able to eat my favorite choice as much as I wanted. I was surprised because Carter put gummy candies on his chocolate icecream.







3/1Wed

We finished making our journals. Jane picked me up at the study center, and we went to a Japanese restaurant “ Koharu” for lunch. I was surprised to see some Japanese customers and staff in the restaurant. I ate fried oyster. It was very good.

After I came back to the study center, we went for our last shopping. Then, we ate hamburgers for dinner. In the evening, we had the Sayonara Party and made our presentation. I was nervous when we were having the presentation, but I was glad that our host family were enjoying it. I was really glad that I worked hard for that. I felt so sad about leaving my host family soon.

Jane gave me American popular sweets and big beef jerkey for my father when we came back home. I felt so happy.
