Laura is very cheerful and funny! She taught us a lot of things. We had a good three weeks with her!



2/13 (Mon)

We met Laura and took her class. After that, we went to Target and enjoyed shopping. I bought a box of chocolate for my host family and some souvenirs.

In the evening, we had the welcome party with our host family. I enjoyed talking and having dinner with them.

Daniel bought me a postcard of Seattle at Walmart that day.







2/14 (Tue)

We went to the fire department and asked firefighters and paramedics some questions. I was surprised to learn many women worked there.

It was St. Valentine's Day. Brianne prepared chocolates and letters for her family and me. Jaxen gave me a pretty headgear. I enjoyed American St. Valentine's Day. After dinner, we enjoyed playing cards.







2/15 (Wed)

We went to Green River College. There were many students from foreign countries. We saw friends from Seiryo, who had been studying there.

We went to Tacoma Mall and had lunch next. I shared a big piece of pizza with my friends. Brianne also came with us, and we enjoyed shopping.







2/16 (Thu)

We went to Leavenworth, which was located in a mountain. The view of snow was so beautiful! There were a lot of Christmas stores in town, and the buildings were pretty. I ate a sandwich for lunch at a German restaurant. I bought some popcorn for my souvenir, and shared gelato with Kana.







2/17 (Fri)

We went to the police station. We had a chance to get into a police car.

In the evening, I wrote a postcard to send to Japan, and I watched a movie “Peter Pan.”






2/20 (Mon)

We went to a local senior center. We sang Japanese children's songs “Amefuri” and “Furusato,” and told elerly people how to say colors in Japanese. They were powerful, and I enjoyed talking to them.

In the evening, I helped Brianne make tacos. It was hard for me to fry ground meat. The tacos were so delicious!






2/21 (Tue)

We talked with Laura about Japanese holidays. After that, we enjoyed American holidays, Halloween, Easter, and Thanksgiving. We put on costumes for Halloween. I borrowed a costume of a yeti from my host family. We also ate a lot of dishes for Thanksgiving.

In the evening, I made brownies with Kyleigh. I ate a Hawaiian pizza for dinner, and it was delicious.







2/22 (Wed)

We went to an elementary school. We told children how to say colors in Japanese and how to write their names in katakana. I enjoyed having lunch and talking with them. After lunch, we played outside with the children. They were really powerful and I got tired, but it was fun.

I made udon with pork and onion for dinner.







2/23 (Thu)

We enjoyed the trip to Seattle! We went to University of Washington, Space Needle, Pike Place Market, Safeco Field, and so on. The university campus was very big, and the library reminded me of “Harry Potter.” The view from Space Needle was so beautiful! Pike Place Market had many kinds of stores, and I bought a lot of souvenirs there. We took a lot of pictures that day.

In the evening, we went to see Jaxen's recital. He was so cute. We later went to a restaurant “Jimmy Mac's.” I was surprised that everyone was throwing nuts hulls away on the floor.







2/24 (Fri)

We had Mr. Nonaka's host mother Terry as our teacher that day. Terry told us how to make sweets with chocolates and caramels, and we made it. It was very sweet and delicious. After that, we went bowling. Brianne and Daniel came and bowled together.

Lillian and Kyleigh went for a training camp of soccer from that day. After dinner, we went to a drive-through store and I ate icecream with oreo cookies. It was so delicious!






2/27 (Mon)

It was a craft day. We made photo frames and memory journals for our host family.

After getting home, I made a message card for Laura. We watched the 5th movie of “Harry Potter.” Brianne said, “We have to wach all “Harry Potter” movies before you go back to Japan!”






2/28 (Tue)

We continued to make the photo frames and memory journals.

Daniel gave me a pretty ornament of an angel. We watched the 6th movie of “Harry Potter” while we were eating hamburgers in the evening.





3/1 Wed

We finished making the photo frames and memory journals in the morning. We practiced for the presentation for our sayonara party while we were having lunch. After that, we enjoyed the last shopping at Target and Daiso. We shared hamburgers at a restaurant “Red Robin” for dinner.

Sayonara party! We had a presentation about Japanese New Year holidays. I was happy to see everyone enjoying our presentation. We gave host family the photo frames and memory journals one by one.

After getting home, I gave my host family some presents I bought at Daiso. While I was enjoying origami with the girls, Brianne called me and gave me some presents, a photo book, a letter, a T-shirt of Seahawks, and so on. I was so happy. We watched the 7th movie of “Harry Potter.”
