Laura was our teacher guide. She is very cheerful and funny. We learned a lot of things from her, and enjoyed talking with her.



2/13 (Mon)

In the morning, we learned about manners in America at our study center. In the afternoon, we went to a shopping mall nearby. I bought some chocolates there, which was my first time shopping in America. I was a little bit nervous, but American store clerk was very kind. In the evening, we had the welcome party, and enjoyed eating and talking.





2/14 (Tue)

I visited the elementary school where Melody works for a short time before I went to the study center. In the morning, we learned some tongue twisters. It was difficult for me. In the afternoon, we went to the fire department, and asked firefighters some questions. After that, we put on firefighting suits and tried spraying water.

After school, I ate chocolate peanut butter ice cream with brownie. It was very sweet and delicious. After dinner, I practiced tongue twisters with Melody.





2/15 (Wed)

We went to Green River College with Laura and Yumi's hostmother Gwen. The college campus was so big and rich with nature. We met our old friends from Seiryo who were studying at the college, and enjoyed talking with each other. In the afternoon, we went to a Krispy&Kream doughnuts shop. All doughnuts were so sweet. After that, we enjoyed shopping at a mall, and I bought some souvenirs.





2/16 (Thu)

We went to Leavenworth. It took about three hours to get there. It was cold but the weather was sunny. We ate German food for lunch, and it was delicious. After that, we ate ice cream and enjoyed looking around many souvenir shops. We had a good day.






2/17 (Fri)

In the morning, we learned how to count American money. It was difficult for me. In the afternoon, we went to the police station and the law court. We asked staff some questions.

At night, I went to a restaurant with Mike, Melody and Mike's friends. We ate some steak. I was surprised because the steak was so big!





2/20 (Mon)

I spent the whole day with my host family. We went to a shopping mall. The mall had a lot of stores, and me enjoyed shopping around. After that, we watched a romantic movie at home. At night, Melody made lasagna. It was delicious.




2/21 (Tue)

We experienced some American holidays such as Easter, Thanksgiving and Halloween. We wore a Halloween costume. We also ate some American food for Thanksgiving. We ate a turkey. I was surprised because the turkey was so big. We had a great time.

After school, I watched a TV drama “Merlin” with Marta. Marta told me aboout the story.





2/22 (Wed)

We went to an elementary school to have a presentation. We taught school children how to say colors in Japanese and how to write their names in katakana. We ate lunch and played with the children outside. The children were very active, and I got very tired.





2/23 (Thu)

We went sightseeing in Seattle all day. We went to University of Washington, Space Needle, the first Starbucks Coffee store and Pike Place Market. The University of Washington was so big. When we went up the Space Needle, it was snowing and very cold outside. After that, we went to the Pike Place Market, and enjoyed buying souvenirs.





2/24 (Fri)

In the morning, we made sweets called Triple-Layer Cracker Toffee Bars. In the afternoon, we went to a bowling alley, and enjoyed bowling.

At night, I went to see a movie with Mike. We watched an action movie. I enjoyed watching the movie.





2/27 (Mon)

We each made a memorial journal and a photo frame for our host family all day.





2/28 (Tue)

We kept working on our memorial journal all day. In the evening, I went to a high school with Melody. I was surprised because the high school was so big! It looked like Harry Potter's school. After that, we went to Melody mother's house. She had a cat as a pet. The cat was friendly and cute. At night, we went to a seafood restaurant, and I ate grilled salmon. It was my first time to eat seafood in America, and it was delicious!





3/1 (Wed)

In the morning, we finished making our memorial journal. After that, we practiced our presentation for our Sayonara party.

In the evening, Melody came to the Sayonara party. We didn't make any mistakes in our presentation, and we enjoyed the party. I couldn't believe that I was returning to Japan the next day.
