The Weekdays

Feb.11 (Mon)

Jane taught me how to make Valentine cards. She has many materials of stamp drawing paper because she likes crafting. I made 10 Valentine cards to give my friends, Jane, Daryl and myself.

Jane and I were watching the movie "Ant-Man" on Netflix, but the system suddenly broke. We couldn't keep watching the movie, so we got angry together.

In the evening, Jane made curry and rice. I was surprisd because it contained celery and potatoes that I had never seen. It was refreshing and spicy. I was happy because I ate rice after a long time.

Feb.12 (Tue)

We couldn't go to an elementery school because there was a lot of snow. I had nothing to do, so I went to Ibuki's host family's house. I made chocolate cookies with Ibuki and her host sister Rachel. They were a little too sweet but tasty. After eating them, we went to a shopping mall by Rachel's driving. I was surprised at the size of the mall because it was my first time to go to an American shopping mall. Rachel bought us cinnamon suger churro. We were happy.

In the evening, Ibuki and I went to see the night view of downtown with my host family. It was beautiful. We ate two kinds of pizza. I was also surprised at the size of the pizza. I learned everything is big in America. After dinner, we went to an ice cream shop called SUBZERO. It was hard for us to eat their ice cream because it was very cold, but I would like to eat it again.

Feb.13 (Wed)

We went sightseeing in Seattle. First, we went to University of Washington and Theo's Chocolate. I bought souvenirs at the chocolate shop. At lunch, Anri and I shared a hamburger and French fries. Next, we went to the Space Needle. We couldn't see the nice view from its top because the day was cloudy. There I experienced a VR trial of bungee jumping, but I thought I wouldn't like to do it again. Finally, we went to Pike Place Market, which is the most famous market in Seattle. We went to a lot of interesting places that day.

In the evening, I went to Burger Express with my host family. The shop is Daryl's favorite hamburger shop. Daryl and Jane said to me, “You should drink milkshake when you eat a hamburger,” so I ate a hamburger with milkshake. The combination was really good.

Feb.14 (Thur)

We went to a fire department and experienced spraying water at targets. The firefighting suit was too big for me.

When I came back home, Carter and Kacin came to our house. The day was St. Vilentine's Day, so we gave presents to each other and ate steak. After dinner, I played shops with Kacin. His acting was so cute. Next, Carter and I fought against Jane. It made me tired, but I really enjoyed it. After fighting, Carter gave me some water. He is a gentleman.

Feb.15 (Fri)

We experienced a lot of American holidays in class. For example, Easter, Halloween and Thanksgiving. At lunch, we ate turky that Jane cooked, and pumpkin pie. All the food was delicious. After lunch, we went to a nearby mall and bought some souvenirs.

Before our welcome party, I went to Costco with Jane, Carter and Kacin. We bought a big chocolate cake for the party.

At the welcome party, I really enjoyed it because I talked a lot with my friends' host families.

Feb.18 (Mon)

I had a fever, so I couldn't go to class. Jane gave me some medicine and Sprite. I was surprised at the combination of them. I was happy because Jane came to my room and cared for me many times. Thank you, Jane!

Feb.19 (Tue)

I still had a fever. I took some medicine and slept a lot. At dinner, I ate noodle soup watching the movie "It Takes Two." I had no appetite, but I took second helping of the soup because it was so tasty. Jane's cooking is awesome!

Before going to bed, I said to Jane, “Thank you very much.” Jane said back to me, “You're welcome very much.” Jane is the funniest woman.

Feb.20 (Wed)

I had no fever, so I went out to join the class. We went to Snoqualmie Falls Park, an outlet mall, a major shopping mall and the coast. I bought a lot of souvenirs and took nice pictures.

In the evening, I had dinner with Daryl, Jane, Carter and Kacin. Afte dinner, we ate cup cakes with colorful whip cream. Then Kacin put the cream on Jane's face. He also put it on my face and Carter did it by himself. We laughed at each other.

I had to go back to Japan in a week. When I felt sad, Jane said to me, “I'll get into your suitcase and go to Japan with you.” She always made me laugh.

Feb.21 (Thur)

We went to Green River College and a nursing home. We had a presentation at the nursing home.

After school, I went to Carter and Kacin's house, which was so big. I watched “Pokemon” and played with an air gun with Carter. We ran around and laughed a lot. I got tired, but really enjoyed it.

Feb.22 (Fri)

We made presents for our host family and went bowling later.

In the evening, Daryl asked me, “What do you want to have for dinner?” While I was thinking, he said, “For example, hamburgers and hamburgers.” We then decided to go to Burger Express. After eating, Daryl took me to a basketball game. There were cheerleaders and a brass band there. I enjoyed watching the game. Thank you, Daryl!

Feb.25 (Mon)

We kept making the presents for our host families. After school, I went to DAISO with Jane. We tried putting on a hairband and chose some snacks.

In the evening, Jane made fish tacos. It was so good for me because not only fish but also beans and cheese were in it. We enjoyed joking about “It isn't octopus.”

Feb.26 (Tue)

We went to a famous seafood restaurant Ivar's for lunch. I ate clam chowder, which was creamy and thick. I wish Ivar's came to Niigata. In the evening, Sayonara Party begun. I was happy because our presentation was successful, and I ate a lot of pizza and cake. We enjoyed the party.

At home, I found a strange ornament, which looked like an egg or a dog. When I laughed at it, Jane said, “His name is Shiori.” Though it was supposed to be a sad final evening with my host family, we laughed a lot.

Feb.27 (Wed)

I told Daryl good-bye and thanked him at the night before because he had to go to work early that day. Jane and I promised each other to say good-bye with a smile. Jane always laughed at me in the car until we arrived at the study center. When I said good-bye to Jane, I cried. I was sorry I broke our promise. Jane wiped away my tears and hugged me. She said, “You have my e-mail address. You can send me a message anytime, so you are not sad. Right?” I thought so. Finally I told Jane good-bye and thanked her with a smile.
