Alissa is our teatuer guide. She is very cheerful and kind. Her class is fun.



Feb. 11 (Mon)

We didn't have a class because of a lot of snow. Some of us went to a mall instead. At lunch I ate tacos with my friends.

After coming back home, I watched the movie “THOR” with English subtitles.






Feb. 12Tue

We had no class again. Mary and I went to church to do some volunteer work. My job was to cut bread and to arrange dishes on a plate. I talked with a gentleman about my hometown and family.

After that we went to a supermarket and got a large amount of food for our volunteer.





Feb. 13 (wed

We went sightseeing in Seattle. We visited University of Washingoton at first. The campus had many huge buildings and the librery had the very nice atmosphere. Next we went to a chocolate shop, Space Needle and Pike Place Market. Everything was my first experience, so I was moved.

At lunch we shared hamburgers and French fries. I had a great time.







Fed. 14 (Thu

We visited a fire station. We wore a fire-fighting suit and a helmet. They were very heavy. We tried shooting water at a target. I had a good experience.

We went back to the study center and learned how to count American coins.






Feb. 15Fri

We experienced American holidays. For example, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. We ate big turkey. I learned another culture.

In the evening we had our welcome party, and we ate delicious dishes and cake. I spent a wonderful time with my host family.







Feb. 18Mon

We went to Tacoma Mall. We shared very sweet doughnuts, and enjoyed shopping. I had a fun time!




Feb. 19Tue

We visited a police station and the courthouse. The American police had black police cars. They were cool. I became a judge at the courthouse.





Feb. 20Wed

It was the day for sightseeing in Seattle. At first we went to Snoqualemie Falls, but there was dense fog everywhere and we couldn't see anything. Next we went to two shopping malls. We ate lunch, and enjoyed shopping there. Finally we visited Alkai Beach, which was really beautiful!!

In the evening Mary and I joined a meeting for volunteer.







Feb. 21Thu

Around noon we went to Green River College and looked around its campus.

After that we visited a senior center. We sang Japanese songs and had a presentation for the people there.








Feb. 22Fri

We made a photo frame for our host family in the morning.

In the afternoon we enjoyed bowling. Mary had her own bowling ball. She was a very good bowler!

In the evening Yu and I made Yakisoba and Niku-jaga for Yu's host family. They were nicely cooked.








Feb. 25Mon

We made a memory journal for our host family all day. It took me a lot of time, so I thought that I needed a lot of time to prepare for that.



Feb. 26Tue

In the moring we worked very hard on our memory journals. We later went to Ivar's for lunch and ate clam chowder. It was delicious. I want to eat it again.

We then came back to the study center and practiced for our presentation for the Sayonara party many times. After that we changed into Yukata. In the evening many people came and we held the Sayonara party. At the end of the party we gave our memory journal and photo frame to our host family.

In the evening Glenn and Mary gave me some presents. I was glad, but a little sad. Mary said to me, “Keep money and come back to Seattle.”






Feb. 27Wed

It was the day to return to Japan. Before leaving home Denise gave me a present. We gathered at the study center and then went to the airport. Mary and Alissa saw us off at the boarding gate. I was very sad. I decided to come back to Seattle.
