Laura is our teacher guide. She taught us many things. She is funny and kind. She always made us laugh. I liked her classes. She always helped us speak English. |
Feb. 14 (Fri)
In the morning, John and Shirlee gave me a Valentine message card and a Starbucks card. I was very glad.
In the evening, I went to Welcome Party with John and Shirlee. We enjoyed talking with other host families and eating a lot of food. We had a very good time.

Feb. 17 (Mon)
In the morning John and Shirlee took me to a racetrack, where we ate breakfast. I ate pancake, egg and bacon. The meal was delicious. I enjoyed American breakfast.
After we had a class in the morning, we went to the fire department in the afternoon. First we asked some questions about the fire department. Next we experienced putting on a firefighter uniform. It was very heavy, so it was hard to walk around in it.

Feb.18 (Tue)
We went to the police station and the law court. We looked around and asked questions about the facilities. I had never seen the police station, so I had a good experience.
After school, Shirlee took me to a park where we could see Mt. Rainier. It was very pretty.

Feb. 19 (Wed)
We went to Tacoma Mall. We shared some kinds of doughnuts at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. The doughnuts were sweet and delicious. As we had free time, we enjoyed shopping in the mall. I got some chocolates.
In the evening, I moved to the Kessler's house because John and Shirlee had to go on a business trip to Tennessee for five days. The Kesslers were kind to me and they gave me a present. I was so happy.

Feb. 20 (Thur)
We went to Leavenworth. We left for the place early in the morning because it was a long way there. After arriving at Leavenworth, Mr. Nonaka and Laura guided us around many kinds of shops. We ate German food and ice cream. They were yummy. After lunch, we had free time, so we walked around together. We enjoyed seeing the scenery, which was very beautiful.
In the evening, Rick took me to a Mexican restaurant. I ate taco for the first time. It was delicious. After dinner, we enjoyed watching the movie, “The Chronicles of Narnia.”

Feb. 21 (Fri)
We experienced American holidays. First, we looked for candies like “Easter Egg Hunt.” Next, we wore some costumes like “Holloween.” And finally, we had delicious lunch like “Thanksgiving.” Our host families cooked some kinds of holiday dishes. It was a very fun time.
In the evening, I met Rick's son's family. They were kind to me. I played with Rick's grandson. He was very sweet and smart. I like their family.

Feb. 24 (Mon)
We went to Green River College to see our friends who had been studying there. We enjoyed talking about the college and American life. Later, we walked around the campus.
We went to a local senior home next. We sang some Japanese songs in front of elderly people. I was nervous, but I enjoyed it. I was happy because everyone was glad.

Feb. 25 (Tue)
We went to Seattle sightseeing. First, we went to University of Washington. It was very beautiful and exciting. It was like the world of “Harry Potter.” We went to a bookstore on campus, where I lost my smartphone. I got very scared. However, thanks to Mr. Nonaka, I found my phone. I was relieved. Next, we went to Space Needle and Pike Place Market. I really enjoyed everywhere we visited.

Feb. 26 (Wed)
We made our memory journal for our host families. Laura's friend visited our study center. We also met a female police officer and a pretty police dog. We played with the dog.
In the evening, Shirlee took me to Starbucks. I drank a strawberry frappuccino. It was yummy.

Feb. 27 (Thur)
We went to an elementary school. We taught students how to count from one to ten in Japanese. I was a little nervous, but I enjoyed all the classes. American students made me cheerful. They actively worked in our class. It was a nice time.
In the evening, John and Shirlee took me to the ocean to see the sunset. It was very beautiful. I had never seen it before, and it became an unforgettable day for me.

Feb. 28 (Fri)
We focused on making our journals for host families.
After class, we enjoyed bowling. Laura is good at bowling, so she taught us how to bowl well.
In the evening I watched the movie “The Adventure of Indiana Jones” with John and Shirlee. It was fun.

Mar. 2 (Mon)
I finished making my journal. We ate pizza for late lunch, and it was yummy. After lunch, we wore yukata for Sayonara Party. We enjoyed our presentation at the party. Laura gave me a letter, and I cried.
After the party, I came back home and packed my suitcase to go back to Japan. John and Shirlee gave me a photo frame and a letter. I was so happy.
