3rd Week

Wed, Feb 28

We went to the fire department. We were dressed in fire-retardant clothing and had a chance to get on a ride on a fire engine. We listened to a firefighter's story and asked questions. After we came back to the study center, we made Thank-you journals. My brain was still tired, and I couldn't come up with any ideas, so I helped everyone out.
After class, we went to Target. I bought cafe au lait, some snacks, and souvenirs for my family.

It was a shopping day. Kim drove us to Seattle. First, we went to the University of Washington. It was very old, and the library looked like Harry Potter's school. Next, we went to see the troll under the bridge. After taking photos, we went to the Space Needle. We only went to the souvenir shop there. We went to Johnny Rockets for lunch, and shared burgers.
After that, we went to Pike Place Market. We bought matching T-shirts at a souvenir shop.

Laura came to the study center in the morning. She used to work as a teacher guide during our past stays. She was more powerful than Alissa. Laura taught us the tricks of bowling. At lunch, we went to Red Robin, and ate big hamburgers. They were very tasty, but too heavy for us. After lunch, we enjoyed bowling. I couldn't get a good score, so I had fun interfering with my friends. I only took one strike!
After class, Kim and my classmate Kokoro took me to the leisure shop that Kim likes. I was surprised to see that they also sold real guns. Next, Kim took us to Businss Costco, but it was all too big, and they had nothing to buy for me.
After I came back home, Mike, Melody, and I went to Red Lobster, seafood restaurant. We ate shrimp dishes. After eating, Mike ordered me lobster. It was my first time eating it. It was plumper than shrimp and very delicious. After dinner, we went to a shake shop. When I asked for vanilla, Mike told me not to get vanilla because it was boring. I was surprised to hear that because it is the most common taste in Japan.

In the morning, Melody and I went to the Tacoma Mall to buy the necklace that I lost again. The accessory shop didn't have it, so I bought a similar one. I found earrings with a beer design at another store. Mike loves beer, so I bought them for him. When I got home and showed Mike the earrings, he was happy and hugged me.
In the afternoon, we went to the apartment of Phoebey, a daughter of the host family. I attended the host family's grandson's birthday party. While I was eating pizza alone, Melody's friend talked to me. She told me about her dogs, and I asked her some questions. I felt that my English skills got better!
When I got back home, Phoebe's family, Willow's family, Kyle's family, and Chris all gathered at the house. In the bedroom, Phoebe, Willow, and I received nail stickers from Melody. Willow and I pasted the nail stickers on. They were happy to see the Japanese seal stickers that I brought.

In the afternoon, we went to another grandson's birthday party. Mike was sick with a hangover, so Melody and I went there. The party venue was an indoor attraction park. I received a birthday cupcake. It's not that common in Japan, so it was fun. After that, we went to a big supermarket. I bought a drink bottle. It's my favorite souvenir for myself.
When we came back home, we played cards. Another daughter of the host family, Myra, and her husband came. We played cards and ate dinner together.

We played King Corner.

Mon, Mar 4

After completing the Thank-You Journals, we went to Target again. We loved Target. We looked around for cosmetics and sweets. When we came back to the study center, we ate large pizzas. They were very tasty. After eating them, we changed into yukata and prepared for the Sayonara party. Host families came to the study center. We gave a presentation about Japanese culture. I forgot my lines once. I was very anxious, but with our host families watching over us gently, I finished it to the end. After that, Alissa gave us certificates and presents. She gave me a homemade yarn container, dog stickers, and socks. We gave Thank-you Journals to our host families. We ate cake. I was happy that Mike and Melody liked my jounrnal.
