DAY 01: 2/20 (Thurs.)
cloudy
Arrival and First Day Excursion

We arrived at Seattle International Airport around 09:00 a.m. and met Mrs. Laura Campbell, our teacher guide for the program. We then set off on a full-day excursion in a car driven by Yui's host mother, Alissa. Excited to explore the State of Washington, we eagerly looked around as we traveled.

Our first stop was Denny’s, where we had lunch. As we had learned in Japan, the portion sizes were huge, so we shared our meals. The food was delicious.

Next, we visited Boehm’s Chocolate Factory. Laura showed us around, and it was fascinating to see how chocolate was made. Since it was just a week after Valentine’s Day, the store was nearly empty, but we enjoyed looking at the beautifully decorated boxes of chocolates.

We also visited Snoqualmie Falls, a charming gift shop nearby, a massive timber, and an old train station. Exploring these places was exciting, and everything felt new to us.

Finally, our car arrived at the study center, a local church, where we met our host families and left for our American home.
