DAY 13: 3/4 (Tues.)
cloudy, later rainy
Visit to UW and Seattle's Waterfront
We went on a full-day excursion to Seattle’s waterfront area. Our first stop was the famous Fremont Troll, followed by a visit to the University of Washington, where we exploered the campus.
Our first stop on campus was a massive library. The interior was stunning and looked just like something out of the Harry Potter movies. We also saw recreational facilities for students and were amazed by the size of the campus.
Next, we visited Seatle's iconic Space Needle . Unfortunately, we didn’t go up to the observation deck, but we enjoyed browsing for souvenirs instead. After that, we took the monorail to downtown Seattle and had lunch at the food court in Westlake Center.
After lunch, we explored the famous Pike Place Market, spendin a couple of hours looking around and buying souvenirs, including matching T-shirts. The market was full of interesting shops and attractions, such as the original Starbucks, the Made in Washington store, the Gum Wall, and more. Simply wandering through the market was a lot of fun.
Our final stop was Uwajimaya, a Japanese grocery store, where we picked up some items for our host families and friends in Japan.
The weather wasn’t great, but we still had a wonderful time.
