We went to Alki Beach and Downtown Seattle. It was my frst time to go to Downtown, so I went to a lot of places such as Pike Place Market, Starbucks, and a famous bread store. I had a good time with my friends. |
Classes
IESL
GRC has the IESL course. Students who don't speak English as their first language take the course, which has classes from level 1 to 5. At the orientation, students from many countries take a test to check their own English skills. All the students in the IESL study at the main campus in Auburn. |
Level 2 Classes
In level 2 classes, we studied from 12:00 to 16:00. My classmates were from Japan, China, Vietnam and Kazakhstan. There were about 15 students in my class. Our teacher Emily was a great teacher. We usually made a group to study English, so we got along soon. Emily taught us grammar, reading, writing, listening, and speaking. She was so kind and funny,so I liked her. |
|
Grammar |
We learned basic grammar. I think it was that of the high school level of Japan. |
Reading/Writing |
We read stories at home and we answered questions about the stories in the class. We learned how to write a paragraph. Emily gave us a topic, and we wrote about it. |
Listening/Speaking |
We listened to stories. We just spoke and spoke. We sometimes made presentations and speeches. |
Level 3 Classes
My classmates were from Japan, Vietnam, Korea and China. Our teacher Gary used to teach English in Japan, so he spoke and understood Japanese. He taught us many things beside English such as American culture. |
|
Grammar |
At first, we reviewed the grammer we had learned in level 2. It was getting harder. We mainly learned how to use perfect tense. |
Reading / Writing |
We read the textbook and answered the questions. In the writing class, we almost always wrote a pragraph. The class was getting faster. |
Listening / Speaking |
We listened to sotries for tests. In the speaking class, we made presentations a few times. We sometimes spoke about the topics that we chose. |
