Halloween
|
I experienced pumpkin carving twice during the season. I was surprised at the size of the pumpkins I'd never seen before. Also, there was a Halloween party at college. On Halloween, the neighborhood kids came to our house to get candies. |
Thanksgiving
|
Thanksgiving is not very popular in Japan, but it means a lot in the US. My host family and I went to their daughter's boyfriend's house, and we had dinner with his family. We ate a lot of delicious food and desserts. |

Christmas
|
This is my favorite picture. I had this picture taken with my host family because it was an annual event for them. Also, I saw some houses with gorgeous Christmas decorations in this season. Those were good Christmas memories for me. |

Travel/Disneyland
|
We went on a trip to California for four days. We mainly went to California Disneyland and enjoyed two kinds of Disneyland parks. We reserved the flight and the hotel by ourselves, so it was a good experience for us. On the last day, we went to Santa Monica Beach too. |

With Mickey |
I recommend riding Mickey's Fun Wheel. |
It was a sunny day. The beach was very beautiful. |
Life in the US
Meals
|
American meals are higher in calories than Japanese meals. You can buy salads at the cafe on campus, so you should be conscious of eating vegetables and a well-balanced diet. Also, there are restaurants from many different countries in the US. For example, there is a Mexican restaurant, a Korean restaurant, and a Vietnamese restaurant. You can enjoy dishes from several different countries. |
Bus Survice
|
When you pay the fare, you need to have cash or buy a bus card because they do not give you the change. Most students use a smartphone app called “Transit Go.” It can be connected to your own bank account so that you can simply purchase a ticket from your own phone. You can get on the bus by just showing the screen of your smartphone. Also, the bus sometimes was not running on time, so you should have enough time. When I wanted to check the bus schedule and the bus status, I used “Google Maps.” |
