  School Trip
School advisers took students to a shopping mall by school van. It helped us get used to life in America and make friends. We felt America by going shopping. It made us really excited. However, you need to be careful about two things. First, being too excited leads to depression when you first face a hard situation, like difficulty communicating. And secondly, you shouldn't spend too much money there. There might be something new, but remember, you can buy it anytime, as long as you are in America.
  Halloween Party
If you start the class in the fall quarter, this is going to be your first party. There are many people who are funny in their costumes and dancing. I was a dancer, and my friends knew it, so my friends asked me to dance, and I did it. I was shy, but it was really fun, and I was glad to be able to make people enjoy it. I recommend you practice dancing even a little so that you can enjoy the situation more. Green River College has many parties, including Christmas and the Chinese Luna celebration, so you can get many opportunities to meet people.
  School Adventure

Green River College gives us many opportunities to go to many places at a reasonable cost, so it means we can get valuable experiences with the school's support. In my case, I went to the Seattle Art Museum with my friends and many other students by school van. It was really fun and reasonable. There are opportunities to try bowling, ice skating, and so on.
  Final Day of Class

In the Level 5 class, we received a certificate individually from our teachers. We then celebrated passing the class by chatting with classmates and eating cake and snacks. Actually, I couldn't take a picture with my teacher because I didn't want to get embarrassed by taking a picture in front of classmates. However, I regret it now, so please don't be shy about expressing what you want, even in front of others.

Daily Life

Movies at Home

At home, my host family allowed me to watch movies on TV freely. However, they were always using TV, so I watched movies while they were out. I always had popcorn that was easily cooked in the microwave, I watched my favorite movies with popcorn, snacks, and juice.
  Movies at Theater

Watching a movie at the theater is not expensive and is more comfortable than in Japan. We can not only enjoy many kinds of foods and drinks but also recline our seats and stretch our legs. There is a good atmosphere to enjoy multiple movies, but most movies don't have subtitles. I recommend people who want to experience American theater or want to improve their English listening skill to watch at the theater.
  Cooking Japanese Food

When my friend and I went to our American friend's house, we cooked Japanese food called "Oyakodon" for him and his family. They looked so happy, but if you want to cook any Japanese food, you need to add much more seasoning than you think because American people tend to like more salty and oily food.
  Party at Host Family's House

My host family allowed us to invite only female friends to our house, so I invited my friend and tried to bake something together. However, they banned us from using the oven, so we just ate some snacks. So, please make sure of your house rules, and if your host family forces you to follow too strict rules, you may need to negotiate with your host family.

Special Meals Host Mother Cooked

On the last day of the year, I celebrated the new year with the host family and their relatives. There were a lot of luxurious meals that my host mother and father cooked. So, I was really glad to be able to cook Indonesian and Mexican foods by helping them cook local dishes. I enjoyed both the dishes and my communication with them. My host mother taught me how to cook these dishes and gave me their recipes because I always said to her, "I love your dishes." So, if you are going to have a host family, I recommend you tell them whatever makes you happy.
